The Light of the Fire

By: Josh S

The Light of the Fire

The mountains divide

In the Canyon I hide

Building my shelter

In which I reside

At night it is cold

The wind to my soul

By the light of the fire

I see events unfold

In the daylight I’m blind

I leave it behind

Following the path

Which I hope is divine

At times there are knives

Piercing the fabric of my life

Allowing the knowledge

Once forgotten to arise

I don’t know if it’s me

Or a conjured fantasy

But when the light of the fire

Shows me that it’s true

Who am I to question

The wisdom that ensues

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
