    The Measure Of A Man

    The measure of a man
    Is the smiles he creates,
    The beauty he bestows,
    The hearts he makes sing.

    The Measure of a man
    Is the knowledge he imparts,
    The wisdom he embodies,
    The lives he changes.

    The Measure of a man
    Was held by you my friend Joseph,
    Who lit up a room just by entering it,
    Who could never harm a living soul,
    Who gave and gave, until your tank was empty,
    And left us all better by knowing you.

    I am sorry for your lost. How very dreadful for you. The world will never know what is in a persons mind that they feel compelled to end their lives. You are wonderful to write this for him.

    Thank You for your condolence for this loss. He was a beautiful soul and all who knew him carry a weight of something unresolved. I hope through this poem which was in his funeral program and read by his Mother at the service, that we may have lightened slightly.

    Swift - What a fantastic tribute to a loved one who has passed on. It could be a perfect eulogy. I'm sure that Joseph is thankful and proud to have had this written for him. I'm also sorry to see that, Joseph passed on so young at 38. A very touching piece - a strong 10 from me and saved to my faves. Thanks for sharing

    It was read at his funeral. He hung himself while I was home visiting. I wrote this in about 30 seconds after viewing his body.

    When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
