    The Warning Label

    The Warning Label:

A clown followed me home today

He followed me into the house

    Hiding beneath the cellar stairs

He was as quiet as a mouse

    My mother didn’t notice,

    The squeaking of his shoes

As he tiptoed up the stairs

    Up to me

    Alone in my room…

I’m sure they heard the screaming

My parents must have smelled the blood

Heard the crack of bones that were breaking

Smelled the hair singed to well done

But neither of them came running

No pounding footsteps on the stairs

    Father calmly turned his newspaper

At the T.V. my mother stared

    *sigh*

“Should we help him?” my father wondered

“Would it matter?” my mother replied

“He ignored the warning label, on the door so plainly in sight

It’s his fault if he doesn’t come out of our daughter’s room alive.”

it is very humorouse and and i give it two thumbs up

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
