    Thoughts Come Unbidden

    Thoughts come unbidden
    To seek and destroy
    Moral integrity
    Comfort, hope and joy
You can't see the enemy he's not flesh, blood or bone
But he has a plan and army to deploy

    Thoughts come unbidden
    They knock at my door
    I say be gone
And they fall to the floor
To be trampled in the mud and the blood and the guts
Of those that have fallen before

    Thoughts come unbidden
    They seem to be right
    But their lies
Only meant to delude your sight
To blind your eyes to the truth that is holy
To keep you from finding the light

    Thoughts come unbidden
    Now wield the sword
    To fight
    For your eternal, everlasting reward
The war is won but the battles must be waged as we walk
Hand in hand with the Lord

I really like this one Pax, like an internal struggle with one's self. I dont know if you are a fan of Bob Dylan, but I am a huge fan, and some of the imagery and themes you use really remind me of some of his work. I mean this to be a compliment, not to say in anyway you stole from him, I hope you get my meaning. He is an idol to me and for me to make a comparison to him is high praise from me. Just some of the line really reminded me of him and he is a genius. I will read some more of your work, but this one was great.

I didn't mean an internal struggle but a struggle between Satan and God's plan for people. Thanks SuSpence; comparing me to Dylan is a real compliment.

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
