Poem Commentary

Untitled new poem

Time has a paradoxical nature.

How can it be?

That I feel we have spent lifetimes as one?

Holding hands as we walk together as children
Smiling  as I push you on the swings
Passing you love notes in class before I knew what love was
Opening the car door for you as we go to prom together

I feel like these are things we have done.

Perhaps as time goes on, endless cycles of us pass through life and are born again only to find each other once more.  And it is at that point that life really begins.
Because when I saw you waiting in your drive way after I accidently passed your house on our first date
when I kissed you for the first time and you giggled
when I awkwardly asked you to be my girlfriend after we watched Toxic Avenger
That is when my life truly started.

With you time becomes confusing.  Because In my head I have known you my whole life when I have truly known you for less than a year.
Every hour with you becomes a matter of seconds.  When I look into your eyes my mind is at ease, my muscles relax and time passes by faster than it ever has.

As time progresses my love for you continues to grow endlessly.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
