Agapanthus

Agapanthus

Be content with me the lovely blossom preened

Sharing dark, rich beauty as the garden greened.

My leaves are narrow, trim and bright

Growing gently in this summer light.

May I dwell at the garden path or lend myself

To a pleasant spot upon the portico shelf.

Born long ago as a Lily of the Nile

I have traveled many an arduous mile

To reside in this land of blended nations.

Being diverse among God’s creations.

I wish to grow ever after in this rich soil

No longer content in barren earth to toil

I leave my ancestors to grow weak or strong

In native ground while I travel far and long

To settle roots in every type of earthly peat

Bloom bright, blue blossoms at my gardener’s feet.

I have many gowns such as Blue Mist, Joyful blue

And White Ice to name just a lovely few.

Plant me anywhere your green thumb please

I promise not to unduly taunt or tease,

But grow ever grand and beautiful for you

At the verdant edge of a garden path or two.

Bring me ardent to your lover’s hand

I am the “flower of love” throughout the land.

Exotic blooms will she display at her table

“Sure sign of his devotion,” will be my comely label.

this is the best i ever read, makes u feel beautiful.i felt that anything is possible.

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
