  • There is too much loss to not appreciate your children. Our lives are only barrowed if just for a minute.

Poem Commentary

i wrote this when i was 17 years old. i was adopted and when i met my real mother i learned she was an alcoholic and this poem came from my experiences while with her. in the original punk at the end is profane i just thought everyone can enjoy it if i change the last word.
thank you i hope you enjoyed this one.

Alcoholics!

Alcoholics

Alcoholics everywhere I can not run away.
when they'd go to meetings, they'd say
"JUST FOR TODAY"
But they knew they'd never stop, and i know they knew they did, so when they needed cheering up, they kept their bottles hid.
One sip here and one sip there, before long they'd be drunk.
then they'd cry and whine and yell and I'd think, "you're a stupid punk!"

Actually No. My biological mother was an alcoholic and when I first met her when i was 16 she tried to kill me because she was drunk so i wrote that poem.Writing helps ease my pain and helps me find myself. I can get my anger out and no body gets hurt. but thank you.

wow!

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
