  • There is too much loss to not appreciate your children. Our lives are only barrowed if just for a minute.

Poem Commentary

i wrote this after i left my ex-husband oer 5 years ago...

one more beating

Darkened shadows, dreams disturbed, A crying
baby that no one heard. The beating came with
no escape,no way out, now It's too late.
A blackened eye, A broken jaw, and one more
time that no one saw. The monster came out of
the blue, he says," I'm sorry! my word is
true!" The baby's grown to three years old,
her life is lost to a world untold.
He says if she leaves he'll find A way, to
terrify her, he'll make her pay. Daddy hurt
Mommy and broke her heart, her little life
has fallen apart.
One more beating late at night, hurt Mommys'
pride and she couldn't fight. Now safety
holds the key so true, Mommy will never be
black and blue.
