    American Wife

My husband works outdoors all day
    his muscles fairly bulge
while I, hausfrau, indoors do stay
    my desires I indulge

Lunch with the ladies upon my whim
we meet once, twice a week
then off I go, to the gym
to keep me at my peak

For pushing vacuum, broom or mop
will not the sagging of bottoms stop
so to keep on playing with hubby's money
I must maintain his pot of honey

Though the biggest bulge I'm interested in
is green and crisp and paper thin
I for my part will obey
and take care of the 'equipment' on which he plays

Such is the story of the American wife
who makes pleasing her man her entire life
I know what he needs, what I need as well
more allowance please, I'm low on Chanel!!

    Liltingly hilarious! Good work. Fantastic!

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
