call you Mine

call you Mine

Tell me
The things she did to you...
Is it because she did it first?
Or because she simply just did it better?
I don't want you to forget
just forgive.
I sputter
and then you stall
Tell me
years from now
will we be moving on down the road?
Or will we still be here
standing in this very spot
Because, you see
we're not even moving in circles
(and sometimes I think even that would be better)
We're just
standing
here
Standing still is nice
sometimes
I confess
this place here with you is nice
But I have the urge
to move
touch
walk
kiss
I'm not saying I want to run
or even skip
Just walk
you don't even have to hold my hand if you don't want to
But
can't we start moving already?

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
