    You are ingrained in me
    like a childhood memory
a part that seems as if it always existed
although I know it did not
my life ticks to the rhythm we created
even when you are not here
I brush lip gloss across the fullness of my bottom lip
and imagine your eye is captivated
I talk to you, when my head hits the sweet spot on the pillow
whisper sleepy words in your ear
run my nails against your baby head
wishing you could really feel it
    hoping you know
    with or without you
you are written into the blood that courses through me
the very blood that keeps this heart beating
    day
    after
    day

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
