"Family" ?

I thought that I knew you;
but I don't think I do,
They say blood is thicker than water
but I don't think that's true.
you make me feel awful;
you hurt me so deep,
I think it unlawful.
How do you sleep?
Our last names aren't alike;
but our mother's the same,
Go take a hike
for you have no shame!
I've shed all the tears
that I'm willing to cry,
I've faced all my fears
and I've kissed you goodbye.
My life now gos on
without you in it,
from ugly duckling to swan
that's where I fit.
You will not watch my babies grow;
that makes me sad,
but you reap what you sew
you never knew what you had.
Go stick you nose up at someone who don't care;
since that's who you want to impress,
my life with you I no more share
I wish I could say I couldn't care less.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
