    Fenced in

Have you ever been stuck without any escape
It’s like something long and black for instance a cape
Trapped behind a door with no oxygen or a key
Many time this has happened to me
There’s someone laughing on the other side
Someone brave and that never hides
    He’s there wherever you go
There’s not a tear drop or a single inch of snow
It’s not near you or down below
Then in time you find this thing is controlling you
Misguiding along that line and next to you
You find a reflection and what do you do
Not a thing you don’t even try
Nor do you look for the reason why
All you see is a line that is thick in darkness and thin in light
Then when you see a little bit of light you lose faith and all of your fight

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
