Sticky: READ BEFORE POSTING!In this forum poets can get more exposure by posting links to their poems and asking others to read the poems, rate and/or leave comments on them. We are asking that all poets be cordial and respectful when commenting on someone elses poems. You don't want anyone simply telling you that "you suck" and not giving constructive feedback, so please refrain from doing so to others. Last edited by Originalpoetry 02-24-2009 at 01:33:31 PM |

Re: Sticky: READ BEFORE POSTING!This is OUTSTANDING news! Firstly it gets rid of that nonsense that was going on, and secondly, it makes people give constructive criticism....not bashing...I think it's great; I always felt a little wierd even rating a poem on a scale of 1-10, because I felt, who am I to rate someone else's feelings and experiences? These poems are personal stuff! Anyway, I think it is unfortunate that the webmaster has to remind everyone to be cordial and respectful, but I am grateful that he/she/they are taking this step. |

Re: Sticky: READ BEFORE POSTING!HOORAY, finally. |

Re: Sticky: READ BEFORE POSTING!Ah FOF, that's what makes this such a great site...poets judging other poets! One person judges content, the other judges context...in the end it seems everyone contributes their own portion to the process...I have to judge based on how the poem makes me feel and whether it's something I would want to read again...I think the two judgment styles compliment on another. |

Re: Sticky: READ BEFORE POSTING!Thank you FoF - I just posted on what I think, is what you are talking about. You have lifted my spirit, and I hope many others as well. If I had a glass of wine, I would give a toast, but my cup of coffee will have to do. So - HEARS TO YOU!!! |

Re: Sticky: READ BEFORE POSTING!Hi everyone! I am new to this site. I read and rated a few poems before I posted some of mine. I think we all should. Exposure is what we are looking for and that is a way to get all poems read. |

Re: Sticky: READ BEFORE POSTING!Where is every one? I thought this was a place to help others write, I have been here quite a few times but I never see any one. No interaction. |

I also think that we should think that not everyone that is on this site might have the time to be on here as much as they would like. I know that there are tings that I would like to do more of but in the business of life just don't. I am just glad to find a site that allows us to get some of our work reviewed by others who enjoy this art form. |

Re: Sticky: READ BEFORE POSTING!Hello all, I am new to this site. I used to post on Poetry.com but stopped for reasons I won't get into. I enjoy reading and rating other poets because nobody and I mean nobody understands a poet better than another poet. We put our souls on paper for all to read hoping maybe someone might gain some personal insight or something. I write because I like to delve into unknowns, I like to put myself into situations I might never see and I play with notions and feelings, twisting and distorting them in hopes that the reader will think and not just read. I think the hardest thing about rating another poet is not comparing yourself to that poet, saying things like I might have done this different or I wouldn't have said that at that point of the poem yada yada yada, we all write differently and no one knows what we are thinking when we do write. Anyway good luck to all and lets create images and feelings that sooth our ever restless brains. |

Re: Sticky: READ BEFORE POSTING!I just found this site and it was truly a blessing. I love to write and read poetry. I mostly free style, but I am trying to get into the habit of drafting my poetry. So if you wonderful poets would examine my work and offer feedback it will be greatly appreciated. |

Re: Sticky: READ BEFORE POSTING!I'm new to this forum and would like to get my poems read. I'm curious how the reader reacts to my thoughts. Thank you very much for your comments. Last edited by dancingbear 04-16-2009 at 10:37:52 PM |

Re: Sticky: READ BEFORE POSTING!I am new to this site and I do have some poetry I wrote 20 years ago and it was collecting dust. When I broke it out for this site some of my pieces I thought were fair others I could not relate to. Some I think worthy have been posted with others to follow if readers want to read more. Please consider the worthiness of this stuff. |

Wednesday , May 13,2009/ This is my first visit to THE FORUM, I am impressed with the opinions , ideas and "injunctions" here expressed. I enjoy reading and creating poetry. In addition, I indulge a critical eye on poetry at large. I tend to detect bad poetry , at a glance, ( I think this my attitude is unfair to some poets ). On the otherhand , I enjoy commenting on what spontaneously appeals to me as good and carefully crafted poetry. I am gratified that I have not met any "bad' poetry" - careless crafting , now and then-- up to now on this charming and prolific original poetry site. I welcome criticism of my work, whether pleasingly constructive or helpfully adverse. Fellow poets, please read my poems .I'll be readng yours, I promise, and I'll continue to comment, since this is my special indulgence. ################################################################## Welcome WildDuke. I am glad to see that you plan to make yourself at home on the OP site. We;come. HINT, REMEMBER to post the link of a poem you desire to be read, or post the link of your page and the title of the poem. The link makes it easier and quicker to find the poem instantly, faster than making instant coffee...........LOL Last edited by cousinsoren 09-24-2010 at 06:46:10 PM |
