Sometimes I look at you wondering

How you could love such a broken man

How you can look at me so tenderly

When I can’t do what most can

You give to me do generously

Hand out without so much a question

Just unconditionally

With eyes full of soft emotion

Amazed, I admire how you just trust

When I can’t give you my heart’s trust

Haunted by shadows of the past

Hating the feel of pure pain

It comes so fast

And take all that will remain

My silence is just fear

That’s why I am not one to touch

Even when love and comfort is near

Letting everything go is so much

You deserve so much more

Than a man that can’t give

Who may never fully restore

Theirs is a part that is afraid to live

I know I should try

But I can’t and don’t fully know why

I can give my body to hold

To love fully is trust

It makes me feel so cold

Just the thought of giving my heart to trust
