    Heard Your Voice

I heard your voice just the other day

Full of pride that would not sway

I was so scared to make that call

To say that that my plan had hit a wall

I did not want you with disappointment

Want you to think of my new journey with excitement

I am not the same as I used to be

The child you used to see

The one that did without thought

The one whose temper had to be fought

The one who gave you worry

    While searching for glory

Yes, I am the one who you stood toe to toe

The one who brought you torment and sorrow

I know you have watched me grow

Into a man with a tomorrow

A man who wanted to make you proud

    Stand out in a crowd

So I sit here with a fulfilled smile

Because I heard something I had not heard in a while

Even as not everything has gone to plan

You know I am giving and trying the best I can

And you are proud of me night and day

I heard it in your voice just the other day

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
