Kindred Spirit Walks With Me
My kindred spirit walks with me
With me when I am in the dark
Giving a glimmer of light on the path, so I can see
Even when the path is stark
Each one so unpredictable
But must be discovered
Because you never know what is on the table
Or how it will be covered
I know that I have old ghosts
I do not try to forget them, bad or good
They have helped build my little piece of the coast
We have all done what we could
I am not perfect
And I do not want to be
Life has that effect
We should all live to be free
It can be so overwhelming
Sometimes I want to lock myself away
Just to control the shaking
Deal with my dismay
Straightening all the thoughts in my head
Times like these, being by myself is a must
Staring at the walls in my bed
Wish, in real people, I could trust
Makes it hard to remember I am not always alone
Even when I am blinded by the pain
Stumbling where others have flown
Not an easy walk across life’s plain
The ones that can lead to the darkest journey
The times when I am too weak to be me
I have t build the strength in knowing I am just free
Look to the sky and give it a kiss
Because I know as I go through all of this
That I am not alone as my kindred spirit walks with me
