Poem Commentary

I think all the time about what I could to to help my country in its needed time and I couldn't come with anything. I have no money to give nor anything else, but this poem tells how I feel about Haiti and that though I'm oceans away it's still in my heart and will always be for it's the country of my birth and it was always good to me. I also wrote this poem to let those other people who have lost hope for Haiti know that God is here and we're all His children and that He will not let us suffer for ever.

Haiti, oh Haiti

Country of my birth, once called "La perle des antillles".
With your antediluvian history, so grand and yet so sad that it brings me to tears.
I wish everything could be recapitulated, so we could change a few of the things that we did

Haiti, my sweet Haiti
A country with a lost history.
A country even at its worst is still is the best to me.
I wish our forefathers were still here.
Maybe then we would have a fortuitous lead.

Though we are now in destruction, I still raise my flag high.
For the French say that everything ends with a song.
And I know one day we will rise under the shadows to sing our own.
Though I know these words are being written on the beach sand
and the waves will come to erase it word by word all the way to the end.

But with patience, I will write it a million times again until the very end.
It is said that you can find fortune even in the worst of tragedies,
and with munificent help from a few.
And one day with God's gratuity we win accrue.
And that magnificent song will be sung

So courage! Is what I say to those whose given up. Thank you, I say to those whose spirit is strong enough to pray.
Pray... is my advice of the day for we’re not alone.
And remember, no matter how hot or dry is the desert ... with time, it’s always blessed with a beautiful flower.

Hold fast to dreams For if dreams die Life is a broken-winged bird That cannot fly. Hold fast to dreams For when dreams go Life is a barren field Frozen with snow. ~Langston Hughes

Very Nice piece of History of your birth place. It made a nice poem with a nice flow.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
