Hidden By The Rain

Hidden By The Rain

There's a girl on the corner
She doesn't make a sound
She's standing in the rain
And Lord, it's coming down
As I watch her from my window
I can feel her pain
And I know the tears she's crying
She thinks they're hidden by the rain
As my eyes fall upon hers
I begin to see
The reflection of the person
That I used to be
I can still feel the burdens
That I carried for so long
Until I gave them to the Saviour
And he filled my soul with song
So I call upon you Father
Help me find the words to say
That will lead her to your kingdom
So she may be with you this day

I wish I could write something that deep. I love these lines: And I know the tears she's crying She thinks they're hidden by the rain so true. how often in movies are people shown to cry in the rain? perhaps I miss the point, but I am deeply intrigued by the poem's motif.

This is a very empathetic and uplifting poem. I also love the use of rain. Its interesting bc as a child I was taught that when it rains God is crying, yet in this she is hiding behind the rain while you are trying to ask God for guidance in how to help her... very nice. Very visual and touching.

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.
