There is no song within me

There is no song within me

There is no song within me
My heart no longer sings

I open myself to the world
To hear but dark, silenced strings

A storm surges
Brew the wild winds

The only path before me
An uncontrollable downward spin

The sovereign state of nothingness
Looms heavy on my soul

Forever burdened I carry the weight
And pretend it makes me whole

There is a song within you, I read it here every time I come.

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
