how many lovers have you touched
in more ways than one
how many have touched you back
tell me—me alone
how many lovers have you kissed
with lips that knew no fear
how many have kissed you back
but missed a fallen tear
how many lovers knew you well
with all their heart and soul
how many have come back
that couldn't let you go
how many lovers have you loved
was it each and every one
how many have loved you back
