LET’S BE THE COW

Poem Commentary

Life is good when we understand how to approach it. The lessons from the cow give insight on seeing a problem as a challenge which could be solved and move on with life rather than crying aimlessly and helpless, regretting the mistakes of yesterday, but transforming them and stepping up.

LET’S BE THE COW

Life teaches lessons

It uses the most disgusting

The most confusing but challenging

To impact lives and gives direction

Guiding the heart of the wise

Putting the wisdom into use

And leading the foolish

Unto destruction for neglect

The story of a man

Who owns herd of cattle

Both the good and the bad

The strong and the weak

The fat and the thin

As it exist in human society

Classes of people

With the satisfied and the unsatisfied

The rich and the poor

Mixed people with mix feelings

But this cow, old and thin

For a cool day stroll on street

Landed in an uncovered shallow well

Groaning in pain for the one to come

The owner to rescue the helpless

Coming to see the unbelievable

Trying all best to do something

Left in anguish, concluding

After-all, old, thin and now useless

As the down-trodden don’t matter

Avoid future re-occurrence

Gather multitude to cover with sand

With the unlucky old thin cow

Crying at the wickedness of the once

Known leader and owner of ‘me’

Summoning courage even though

That way is there from the low

Stepping up as sand dropped on back

Stepping on the problems and staying up

Hoping to be free from it though

This is unbelievable!

Yes, soon, it came up on surface

Even right in their own face

Held in cold silence of surprise

Shivering to the soul for evil act

Now, the rejected seems valued

Valued again for what the owner

Could again get from it,

To be slaughtered for meat

After years of milk and bearing

With enough caring and affection

What a miserable life!

Yes, in the animal farm

Making rules for the ‘best and different’

A state of chaos and nature

Where life is brutal, nasty and short

Let’s be the wise cow

What do u do when life

Present to you hatred for love

Step up on it and get up of it.
