    Poem Commentary

This poem is dedicated to my loving, caring and encouraging fiancée in person of Damilola, Dammie, for her unimaginable contribution to change my thinking and perception that love doesn't exist, but she proved that! I owe you more than want mouth could say. You are a darling. I LOVE YOU.

    THE LOVE I HATE

    It works mysteriously

    Working in diverse ways

    Who can understand it?

    Who knows its ways?

    Those who know it yet

    They don’t feel it

Some see it yet miss it

    The wind of love blows

    Blows everywhere it desires

    Where it is best appreciated

    But I hate love!

    I search and found these

    That some love love

    Some others hate love

    Yet some love hate

    Others hate hate

    But I hate love!

    Not because love hates

But because I didn’t understand it

The mysteries and ways of love

But I know why it’s so

    Grew among the wicked

    Treated in shame and contempt

    Have hatred for love

    Loneliness for companionship

    Abandoned as one without any

Looking out to find love everywhere

    Love running away miles away

    Hatred encompassing each day

    Sinking in deprivation and betrayals

Yes, I hate this love you love

I hate the love that deceives

Love that promises but never do

    Conditioned and masterminded

    Disguised, paraded and tinted

    This love I hate passionately

    Put together, I decided

Never to love or fall in one

    Because I never had one

Never know the joy it beings

    The love dressed, adorned

    Glamoured and came to visit

To see what I will name it

Closing my eyes for it to pass

    Opening to see her waiting

Wanting to brighten my dark heart

    Renew my burnt spirit

    Return hope to heavy soul

    Bound broken and wounded mind

    Yet I never believe love

    Summoning courage to embrace her

    Wiping tears of my heart

Refresh my soul with oil of gladness

Embrace me with peace and joy

    Promise future and hope

Ever wanting to be with her

    Loving to share each moment

    Wanting to keep the companion

Seeking to love her more and more

    Now I love love

    Because love has shown me

    Why I must love love

    Love my sweet angel

    Dark-complexioned love I have

    Sweet charming love that care

    Pure-hearted and tender-loving

    Smile-comforting and consoling

Feeling the touch from head to sole

    Overflowing my heart with light

    My love, come unto me

Touch me with your gentle smile

    Let me see your smile

    The satisfaction in your look

    Hope of your companionship

    Brightness of your complexion

My love is a true love

    Love overcame hatred in me

My love has come to stay

Stay with me forever and ever
