    Losing Her Mind

    Hands shake
    from the passage of time; wrinkled
    with the age forced upon them
    She wills them to hold on,
    to hold on
    to the memories of a life
    once held securely, but now
    slipping
    slipping day by day
    into the past;
    Into the blankness of her mind
    years disappear,
    slipping into the nothingness
    that is soon to be her future.
