Whispered Promises

Promises whispered
with roses of red
wither and die
leaving naught
but dried up
petals of hope
and piercing
thorns of despair.

This made me sad. The brevity of the poem drives the point home even harder. Great job.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
