Married Man

Married Man

Day and night you’re blowing up my phone,

but I won’t pick up even though I’m home alone.

You can’t be in my bed anymore you have a wife,

it’s not right to have me in your life.

Sneaking around with you has been a living hell,

just thinking about it plays every detail.

The words you’re saying are growing old,

my heart and soul has completely turned cold.

I will not help you break a happy home,

so I’m glad to spend theses nights alone.

I heard the whispers of the world,

the way they looked at me when I was your girl.

Tramp, whore, home wreaker is all I heard,

Yes it hurt but it was what I deserved.

I couldn’t help but think about how your wife would cry,

After story, after story, after every lie.

I know now you don’t belong with me,

Just at the beginning I was too blind to see.

I know what I did wasn’t cleaver,

But you and I knew this wasn’t going to last forever.

You would never have left your wife for me,

I’m glad to know separate is the way that we should be.

So married man who tries to dart my door,

Please don’t come back here anymore.

What we did I do regret,

With all the powers of heaven and earth I’ll try to forget.

So I can never be a part of your life,

Because all of your life belongs to your wife.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
