Poem Commentary

For my sweet mother whom I love so much and miss terribly!

Mirror

I never knew how strong you are
As you never show it
A woman full of love
And yet hides it
Your tough exterior
Your soft soul
Is so unique, there's no other like you
I always said
When I grow up
I want to be just like you

Well I'm all grown up
And yet still nothing like you
But I'm still working
On trying to mirror you

It's hard work
And I'm nowhere near
Being able to do what you do
And how you do it

It's your strength and love
That I wish to achieve
But because you are so unique
It's hard to mirror you

But one day I hope
To be just like you
With hard work and perseverance
I know I can mirror you

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
