STILL MISSING YOU

Poem Commentary

In memory of my father, Juan M. Quidachay.

STILL MISSING YOU

One
Two years now since you left us
Two years without you
My life still has not gotten back to normal
Since I last saw you

Everyday I think about you
Everyday I wish you were still here
I think about the last three weeks we had
Oh how I wish you never left us

When I'm alone and my mind wanders
All I see is you, mom, and me together
Nothing but happy thoughts and happy times
And then realize, nothing compares
To you being physically here

When You died, I died with you
When I saw you lying there
In that hard cold box
I did not believe it was you
I refused to believe it was you
Something was not right
You looked different
You were cold and hard as a rock
And you looked fake

Oh Daddy, I miss you so much
Why did you leave me
My heart aches for you
My soul cries for you
I wish I died with you

Oh Daddy, I'm still missing you!

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
