    The First Phone Call

    The sound of her voice
When she picked up and said, "hello"
    Was music to my ears
It was a happy but yet sad moment
    Happy to hear her
And sad because I could not see her

Oh how I longed just to say hi
Even if for a brief moment
    I finally found her
I did not want to let go
But it had to be goodbye again
    Goodbye, only for now

    I could not wait
    For the very next day
    I could not wait
    For another chance
    Another go to say hello

So there we were, on the phone again
    It had been years
    It was so long ago
But never ever will it occur no more
    I lost you once
    I won't take a chance
To do what I should have done long ago
    Keep in touch

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
