my allegory in the cave

my allegory in the cave

I was kept in the dark for so long
I had no idea he was feeding those same lies
To other girls

Once I took myself out of his life,
I saw the ugly truth.

I was just another girl he toyed with.

Every time we were apart,
I learned more and more about him.

But when he came back it was like
I had lost everything I learned.

But now I'm done with you.

No more mind games,
No more second guessing,
No more confusion.

I stepped into the light,
And thats where I'm staying.

Dead on- it's hard to differentiate between the liars and the snags and the posers. Few see the transparency. -Nikkie Rae

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
