    Nats, the tears of God

oh nats! the tears of God
always looking for salvation in lamps
and I, use of only but to wonder
as they pray I won't flick them from the light that sticks to me
do they know of my kindness and my love?
or do they only want the lamp's remains upon my body
oh nats! dodging spider webs as if you knew
and I so powerless over your sudden love for shade
oh nats! where are you going and why are you staying?
your beauty lyes only in your life
as you move quicker than light through darkness
and I, so envious over your physical God
    and your ignorance
how i'd love to believe His light is in lamps
and I could have Him every night
oh nats! the tears of God

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
