One Day Our Prince Will Come!

Poem Commentary

I wrote this poem after observing so many women giving too much of themselves and thinking a man is the answer to everything they desire.

One Day Our Prince Will Come!

Over the years I've lived, there are many things I've seen and learned;
How as women we love so deeply and many times we can get burned.
We give so much of ourselves until we have nothing left to give.
I too gave my all once and then found I had no reason left to live.
It took awhile to get that part of myself back, to once again be whole.
And when I did, I vowed I'd never again
give away what someone else stole.
If only we could see that only God can fill that empty, lonlely space.
He made us with a spot only He can fill and nobody else can replace.
Do you ever think that one day your price charming will take you away?
God is the only one that will ever truy love you
and with you forever stay.
I think it's called the Cinderella Syndrome,
and it comes from deep within.
It's that great hunger for someone to love us
completely without end.
All the movies and books and TV tell us
that a man is all we need to be complete,
And that if we just love him enough,
then we'll have him falling at our feet.

We must continually struggle with where we get our self-worth.
It's so easy to think tht it comes
from another human here on this earth.
But the truth is once you let God take control
and make you a better you,
Then you'll also be a better person
to give to someone else one day too.
We can still find love in this life,
and we can have our handsome groom.
But we must save that special place
for only God in that inner secret room.
It's that room in our heart that we reserve for God alone,
Where we invite Him in to dwell and sit upon the throne.
One day our prince will come;
this is not a fairy tale or fantasy.
We will live happily ever after with him throught all eternity.
He is the King of Kings and we will be
His beautiful, beloved bride.
The one He loves so much,
the one for whom He bled and died.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.
