Pascal's Wager

If there is a God

Then let me be heard

If there is not, no loss

I ask for the absolving of my sin

On the shore my fate is tossed

If I am wrong

No harm no foul

If I am right then I win

I lived the life I wanted

I am devolved of sin

I lived my life as I chose

I lived for nothing but me

But if I confess to the consecrated

I will be saved by me

Excuse me as I clear my throat

Excuse me while I decide

Is heaven the hell I deserve?

Or is hell my eventual bide?

This is Pascal’s wager

To cover all bases in case

I am wrong and they are right

And I decide post haste

Either way I win

I will end up where life demands

Never fear my fate my friends

I am at fate’s command

Shhh… tread lightly be careful I say

Don’t disturb the musings of fate

Remember that the devil was once an angel..

See.. it is never too late,

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
