  • is sorry to all her new friends here.. I have been swamped at work and have not had time to chat much.

Shared Silence

Some silence so loud/ it can deafen the soul/ it can stop the heart/ Damn up the flow/ some words are so empty/they can fill up the head/they can chase out desire/ leave the heart dead/ if you had to measure/ account for each word/ would you learn to treasure/ each silence you heard?/ or chatter so aimless /in ignorant haste/ ruin sweet hush/ with the words that you waste/ or choose to listen/ to silence unbroken/ patiently wait/ for words left unspoken./ that still quiet voice/ muffled unclear/ breaks not the silence/ that falls on the ear/ whispered in hush/ shared between sighs/ taken for granted/ between you and I

Reminds me of the language of the eyes. Seeing more than words can draw out. It is like this poem sees beyond the idle flattery of words and yearns for something deeper. As I read this I could see one talking and one listening. The one listening shaking their head at the pointless chatter. This poem speaks well the only thing I would say is I wish it were longer.

Poetry comes nearer to vital truth than history.

Plato (BC 427-BC 347) Greek philosopher.
