    Ponder

Snow fell upon a branch of tree
the twig before the spring bud
its weight heavy but defined amongst a background of gray
I reached outward to touch upon
what was once out of reach
    and thought in wonder
of what the coming spring would bring
    but for a moment
my curiosity had released this burden
and for a moment in time my own
    if nothing but of reflection
    on it
    on me
    on life in general
    yet here I stand
    still in question
the branch now far from reach
holding that which brought it to me
    slowly dissipating in my hand
while I ponder what it all means
