"One America …Stand-up"
For love of home I write these words; that all may hear my plea…We’ve entered a time that some may say could change democracy;
But we the people; who made our voice heard…at a time when change was sought…
Must stand up now and walk the walk…it’s the cost of victory bought.
A President...for the people, by the people…that’s the system I know and love;
Placed in position to usher-in change…based on wisdom, and understanding---his gift from above…
“Yes”…A new day has dawned, in the America I know; and a black man is at the helm;
To steer us through economic woes, health care concerns…and bring our troops back to our realm…
But a captain is only as good as his crew...in calm or stormy waters;
They must work as a team, uniting as one…while following their captain’s orders…
“Yes America...you are the crew; determined by your voice at the polls;
You said you want change; you verbalized it well…but now you must pay your tolls.”
“Stand-up America , stand up as one…Our President has called you to fight;
The battle is raging, the enemy is fading, but war can last through the night…
Stand-up I said, the war’s just begun…it started when you entered your vote;
Turn off the TV, talk with your child…this is our President’s quote.”
No Libertarian, no Socialist, no Republican or Democrat;
No Brown, no White, or Black…
No Italian, no Chinese, no Irish American;
No Southerner, Northerner, or labels like that
“Stand-up America …Stand-up I say…Our President has called you to start a new day”;
Tighten your belt…If the need should arise…or give with your heart, not with your eyes…
Your neighbor may look a little different than you, but remember America ; they’re in this fight too;
“Stand-up America and fight for “Our” lives…We’re in this together; like bees in a hive...
If work’s what it takes…then give it your all;
For united we stand, or divided we fall…
Our nation is in trouble, the deficit’s to blame;
And trust in America …has gone up in flame…
But now is the time; yesterday is gone…
Today is upon us…
America re-born;
Stand by our President and try it his way…
The world is watching…So stand-up I say!
