    TRANQUILITY

    Today has come and gone and yet I saw---not haste in time;

    I heard---not speed of life or felt the rushing of my mind;

    I clung---not to the minutes ticking slowly by and by;

    Nor looked beyond that moment when my heart felt nature’s sigh;

    I sought---not sleep . . . yet sleep sought me, in moments when my mind was free;

    And though I know---not why I feel...this day I’ll call tranquility.

    To feel the life abound by life, and sense no signs of death;

    And sense the essence of the life . . . in nature’s cooling breath;

    I sway within her sweet caress . . . and tremble as she passes near;

    Then slip so deep in---to her arms...as a baby—to mother’s care

    I dream no dreams, nor seek the peace—of peace which en---gulfs me,

    but yet I find so peaceful a dream...in this day I’ll call...tranquility.

    Hours pass . . . in this my day, but I know---not the time;

    For what is time with mind at rest, and life around sublime;

    Or what is time where thought is not, and whispers go unheard;

    And darkness is as bright as day and silence . . . the spoken word.

    Now soaking in this presence . . . while present in this space;

    I gaze upon an image . . .

     of life I can’t replace;

    But dwell, I shall---not . . .

    in this cast of solemn subtlety;

    Which beckons a threat, to this day . . . I’ll call tranquility;

    I’ll drift not deeper, nor lengthen my stay;

    For peace is the moment . . . and tranquil the way.

    Oh calm and quiet day of mine . . . leave-me-not;

    For I am but a shell of times long gone;

    The years have all but left me as an empty lot;

    And I have found no solace yet re-born

    TRANQUILITY...TRANQUILITY

    Come grace my soul but for another day;

    For I have sought you out in many-a-time and place;

    And given you a path to lead the way;

    Now sit thee for a time that I may learn your pace...

    tranquility...tranquility...tranquility...

    Blessed were I to gaze on such as thee . . . TRANQUILITY!

    Entrancing. Like watching a weary soul finally find water. The pace of your poems is very well crafted. A good tempo makes for a smooth read. [And darkness is as bright as day and silence . . . the spoken word.] - Indeed. The coin becomes flipped. I like how you phrased this. Very emotional poem. Ending with an echo of what the weary soul searches for. Tranquility. Excellent.

    Quality time cannot be appraised by monetary value. These moments come and go without warning or promise of return... We must capture this quality... the rare quality that blesses our times, all to infrequently. Nice job.

    When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
