Refocus

Refocus

On a long journey,

Who analyses the road?

Is not the heart excited,

For the destination to unfold?

Yet in this life,

We measure every inch.

We count every bump,

Or the slightest pinch.

We sit fearfully idle,

Afraid of the next foot.

Scared of surroundings;

Trapped in the soot.

Our eyes refocused,

From the destination ahead.

Placed back on a path;

Compromising instead.

Distracted by troubles

Passing by the way,

We get bogged down

In life’s day to day.

Loosing where we’re going,

With our eyes off the prize.

The destinations the goal,

So refocus your eyes.

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
