Why I Was Born

Poem Commentary

Just a little inspiration for those who struggle from time to time.

Why I Was Born

There are times I remember,
That are welded in my mind.
When everything went my way,
And life seemed fair and kind.

When you are living a dream,
Everything is black and white.
Because you know you're good,
You have no reason to fright.

What if all you ever thought,
Turned out to be all wrong?
When good turns to disillusion,
Would you still have a song?

I hear them quite often,
Speaking on my disgrace.
They say I praise His name,
While He spits in my face.

Too many times I've set there,
Just holding on to my head.
Other times I've broken down,
Just wishing I was dead.

I don't have the answers,
For the questions in my soul.
Perhaps there are a lot of things,
I may never get to know.

But one thing I am certain,
Is the vision that He gave.
I know that I will get there,
Before I enter the grave.

So I just turn a deaf ear,
To all the critics and fools.
They may get to gloat now,
But I'm the one with the tools.

So all this in between stuff,
Is simply a nagging thorn.
Yes it becomes annoying,
But I know why I was born.

I was born to praise Him..... Jesus my savior spits in no humans face... we only do that in self richousness thinking we are some one........ When God says it's all foolishness in His eyes.... Judge lest you be judged in the same mannor.... Jesus left us with one last commandment and the greatest... to love oneanother as He has loved us....... I think He made that pretty plain.... ty for sharing this great write..... red

We are all created to praise him, with our works for His glory. Indeed Jesus never spits in anyone's face. However to the world who doesn't understand tribulation, it appears that way. I can't count how many times, I've heard people tell me "why would a loving God allow that to happen to you". Well they just don't understand! If you listen to that crap, it can distract and you begin to question God and yourself. God created us all for a unique special purpose, to glorify Him. We need to keep focused on that and ignore the world or we can miss the great plan God has for our lives. Thanks again friend for your gracious words. Gary

yw Gary...... i enjoyed all the reads and then your feed back to my comments... not sure if you realized but I got the meening of most of them... then the one I didn't think I had got God told me what it had ment...... Those that can not hear are in need of studing Him a little greater or more for themselves..... We can not teach them but He can...... We may plant seeds and water others ........ But they still have to turn to Him themselves... I know how I grew I sat in jail and read the word did bible studies for me not to be glorified by men But to be accepted by the Mighty One Himself..... I might be going through some thing right now... But I know it wont last for ever....... red

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
