    Sonnet #4

More amazed I become each day to the next
With the length your spirit's arms can reach
At times I find my mind's mind perplexed
How your mind connects with mine, with sightly speech
As I floated away on the drive home
I saw the sun concealed by clouds in the sky
My thoughts couldn't help to roam
To a thought of a wink coming from your glorious eye
And if this day should become abundant of thunder and rain
Dark clouds passing through for a long while
I will stand, looking toward the sky and say
    “You undoubtedly, make me smile”
And that smile I take with me wherever I go
Until the day's dark clouds no longer show

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
