The Phantom

The Phantom

With enrelenting drive pursuing light somewhere
Loud crazy laughter at the back of mind
Brought pricking terrors and unending fears
Has to run and never look back where she's been
Mem'ries of the past have haunted her for years
Self emulation some dignity and shame
All mixed up in her hazy sanity that reigns
The swirling torrents of her hidden tears within.
Does the world see her wound that never heals?
Are all the laurels she now holds for real?
Could she now hide from shadows of those years?
The truth sets free the phantom, yet she's scared.
If she opens the door and let the light set in
She is not certain everything would be the same
Unwritten things are better kept within
No harm befall no hurting words no pain.

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
