Tis a new year

Yes it is a new year as it is plainly seen

For the calendar on the wall shows 2013

People have started this one as years before

Resolutions that within days are tossed out the door

For they are made with no commitment in mind

Obligation has led them to this sorry state that they we do find

For they feel the need to have some sort of goal

Stop smoking, stop drinking, but it is an upward roll

For neither of these will come to a halt

Until you learn to lock the mental door bolt

For nothing will come from a shallow thought

For within days, to the store “OH” look what was bought

But those of us who love life and know Gods word

Know we need no resolutions but one, yes have you heard?

To grow in the word is our worthy goal

This is not like others, for this I find in the one great scroll

To love God and my neighbor

To share Gods word with them, teach them the score

Show them how to be victorious over all

This is the reason I answered Gods call

Tis a new year, for this we do see

Let’s be our best, for God we are mighty

Stand firm, stand true, yes having done all, Stand

Spreading Gods word throughout all the land
