unforgotten

Listen to the wind
whispering through the trees.
Feel the message it craves to send.
It brings you to your knees.
A calming breath through the tears.
Yearning to be exempt.
Treading carefully through the years
Somehow knowing it's time is spent.
Soon it will be dead and all things will grieve.
But not one tear will it shed.
Perhaps it doesn't really leave
Weaving softly beside me,
allusively it's here, for eternity.

What a lovely poem. You showed such mastery with image rhyme and rhythm. This was a very enjoyable read.

thank you very much, this is one of my favorites. I appreciate your kind words.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
