Unwanted Princess

Unwanted Princess

She is unwanted by many
Looking so innocent in so many ways
What has she done to earn this?
Shouldn't a princess be in a castle?
Surounded by servants and maids?
Has she been abandoned?
Unwanted by her mother?
Her father?
She stands there
Selling herself
Just to be loved
It should not have to be like this
Someone should come to her rescue
She is wanted by someone
Her prince is waiting
But he does not know where she is
How can anyone leave her alone
This unwanted princess needs love
No one should be unloved
No matter how cruel
Help the princess
Bring her back to the young lady
She once was
Let her prince find her
So she can be the princess she once was

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
