when you taught me
When you taught me what women want
You taught me too to understand what I want
I was only eighteen and you were twenty-one
But it wasn't the time to put our love into practice
You were married and I wasn't the lucky one.
But you taught me what women want then I understood what I wanted
Most times I gave women what they wanted
Sometimes I got back what I was looking for.
Too many times I only found closed doors.
One time you came back into my life
To teach me a second lesson
With the same theme.
You showed me what women want
And the more I understood what I wanted
I went back to the one I loved.
Thinking I had found what I was looking for
I tried so many years, but what was left were only tears
And thinking of you and remembering the last words
you said, I understood what you meant.
Those words, so easily spoken, so many times
But you taught me what women want
You taught me to say "I love you"
And how to practice so she loves me too
You were my greatest teacher
And I was a thankful apprentice
You taught me what women want
And I learned how to give and to receive.
