    Winter

    How gently flakes drift
    like down feathers
    from angel wings
    embracing nature
    beckoning our hearts
    in a whisper that speaks
    winter has arrived.
As the snow imparts its chill
    the land seduced
succumbs to her bed of white
    where the only sound
    is the occasional cry
    of natures feathered eyes
    maintaining their sojourn
    wings of the wind
    lamenting while mother nature sleeps.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
