    Poem Commentary

    IN MEMORY OF 256 SHIPMATES. RIVER SECTION 531 ""Theres not a day goes by, YOU ARE NEVER FORGOTTEN. It's been so many years"".. .

    ***YOU ARE NEVER FORGOTTEN***

    I'd never worn my medals
    They were left there in the drawer,
    So when I finally took them out
    It had been twenty years or more.

    My son saw me take them out
    And he ask me what they're for,
    I looked at him and calmly said
    They're a reminder of a war.

    Brownwater sailors of years gone by
    Have become a dying breed,
    The men and women that carried the flag
    When their country was in need.

    Throughout the width of this great land
    They hasten to heed the call,
    And promised God and country
    That they would give their all.

    Beautiful tribute to your fellow servicemen. The men and women who serve their countries are to be held in the highest respect. The poem's rhyme and meter flow smoothly and the words bear deep meaning. Great job. Julie

    Our worth isn't measured,..... By medals or by fame...But by sweat, blood and courage....That gave their live's in vain.....To many, it didn't matter....If the shadows hide the sun....For loving my country and loving God.....Is what I've aways done.....
