You Can't

You Can't

To come close to having somthing
Just to have it yanked away
Is like falling into the deepest pit of Hell
Like being reunited with a lost love
Only for them to die in your arms
Your name upon their lips

To have what you deserve
Just to have it stolen from you
Is like stealing life from one who worked hard to get it
Like spending your life searching for the one person
Only for them to be stolen by another
Her name on his mind

To see your happieness right there
Just to have someone else bask in it
Is like the sun being taken from the sky
Like your heart ripped from your chest
Only enough time for you to see it die
Its beats the last thing upon your ears

To watch the pain that haunts you, to leave
Just to have it rush bacck at you
Its like being freed, only to be shot down
Like escaping the only thing you've ever known
Only to find the outside is worse than the inside
Wishing you could go back, knowing you can't

Another good write, my fav line is, "To watch the pain that haunts you, to leave Just to have it rush back..." it reminds me so much of a time in my life. We all wish for a rewind button, or a time machine. Awesome write. -Luna

When I read this one, I feel like I can feel your melancholy and confusion. We all wish to be able to rewind in time to erase or replay but we can't. The tone of this poem is on point. Great write........E

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
