    A Lifetime Unknown

    I fall on the floor
    Silently
    Pull my knees
    To my chest tightly
    My sight grows dim
    In a blurry haze
    The sounds are dull
    In a deadening daze
    My breath comes slow
    Deliberately
    My tears fall down
    In a steady stream
    Without him
    I feel lost and alone
    An unending pain
    A lifetime unknown

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
