    Poem Commentary

To restore sanity you must find a power greater than yourself. Open your mind to believing in a power greater than yourself.

    Believe

Belief has never been a hard thing for me.

Belief in a religion was not easy.

I do believe “He” helps, if you help yourself.

I do believe “He” has more worries than just myself.

I do believe “He” gives you what makes you strong.

I have also truly felt at times “He” was wrong.

Why pain and sorrow, what good is there to gain?

What good is there if you only feel pain?

The answer to that is what I have been seeking.

The answer found to that is truly worth speaking.

I have learned that by acceptance of hurt you survive.

By denial of those hurts, it is like part of you dies.

Acceptance and belief is what I am looking for.

I know this is not an instant cure.

I will attempt to open my mind to a different belief.

I can try to accomplish this to get some relief.

May I say that the most important person to give you acceptance and 'bellief' is none other than yourself. This is a journey we all go thru; there is no other way while we are here as humans. I, believe, 'He" that we are given what we need on this journey, on earth. I believe, as fact that we are made in His image and likeness. That doesn't mean I did not go thru many a sleepless night trying to figure it out. But, this I know, I try to state my intentions and work toward that goal and this old lady can tell you it does help. May you find your peace and thank you for sharing.

I found some confusion in this as I read it. Acceptance from what or who that you are looking for, for we need no ones acceptance, I mean its nice but "we don't need it." And when you say He has more worries than yourself, I believe He can be all places at the same time, so no conflict there, don't feel your taking Him from other people or tasks. I don't think relief comes from opening your mind to different beliefs, relief comes from knowing and maintaining your connection to GodSource, nothing outside yourself can do that, only inside yourself is what connects you, not programs or formats. Nice attempt to sound out within yourself what it is you believe, keep running with it, it'll clarify.

There was no way to find clarity in writing this poem. I was personally seeking answers from the depths of my heart. Attempting to find a way to believe in a higher power, to assist myself in recovery from an emotional break. Without belief in something greater then myself I would never truly recover. Thank you for your insight and thoughts.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
